Am I ...achieving my personal best at this point in my life?
...using my talents and realising my true potential?
...happy with my Work-Life Balance?
There are times in most people’s personal or working lives when they ask themselves one of these questions. Consciously or subconsciously we are all aware of our talents and potential – and these questions come up in our minds when there is an “Expectation Gap”.
They can be triggered by dissatisfaction with some aspect of an existing situation or the desire to improve good performance or to achieve some new goal.
Situational Coaching
The causes of dissatisfaction with an existing situation are sometimes obvious, but difficult to deal with – like an unreasonable boss or job issues. Other times the cause is not so easy to identify, but the effects are noticeable – lack of motivation or enthusiasm, frustrating relationships, or things that should be easy have become difficult.
In this situation, the job of a Coach is to help people work through these issues and get “Back on Track”. Think of it like a top football team with the best players that starts losing to weaker teams. The job of the Coach or Manager is to restore the motivation, confidence and fighting spirit so the team starts winning again.
I am a qualified coach and psychotherapist and use a specific approach, aimed at quickly restoring the balance in people’s personal or working lives – so you start winning matches again! The approach has much in common with those of top-level sports coaches who know that winning is in the mind, rather than in endless drills.
Coaching to Improve Performance
This situation is like a top tennis player who works with their coach to improve on already excellent performance, and move up in the world rankings.
There is a close parallel in a personal or work situation –with high-performers and those with high expectations. The coach works on the mental attitude and minor weaknesses or blind spots that could be affecting performance.
Top sports coaches tap into the natural talent of the player to achieve higher performance levels than those achievable simply through technique and fitness.
We can help you take your performance to the next level – in your work or personal life. We will help you to work with your talents and identify your hidden strengths, to realise your full career potential, or create the personal life you wish for.
In a work situation our focus is often on the Leadership, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, required to succeed at senior management levels.

Work-Life Balance
It may surprise you when I say that my aim is not to help people with “Work-Life Balance”. I believe that as long as we consider work and life to be separate elements that we need to balance, we have a Zero-Sum Game – for one to win, the other has to lose.
In the short term, I help people with "Work-Life Balance" - working on habits, time management, setting boundaries etc. However in the longer term my aim is to help people with “Work-Life Integration” – to become Masters in the Art of Living.
“A Master in the Art of Living makes little distinction between work and play, labour and leisure, mind and body, learning and recreation, being and doing.
The Master hardly knows which is which.
She simply pursues a vision of excellence in whatever she does, leaving others to decide whether she is working or playing. To herself she is always doing both.”
Any time you wish, you can choose to become a Master in the Art of Living. If it is a genuine commitment, over time you will find your life starting to change the way you want.
Hypnosis
I use hypnotherapy as an extension of my coaching and psychotherapy work. Many of the stubborn patterns that affect people’s careers, relationships, emotions and health are the result of subconscious patterns. Ericksonian (Brief Therapy) Hypnosis allows these patterns to be identified and corrected more quickly and with less effort than traditional coaching or psychotherapy.
Ericksonian Hypnosis is also termed Indirect Hypnosis, because the client remains in control. It is quite different from Direct or “Stage” Hypnosis where the hypnotist is in control. It has proved very effective for a wide range of personality issues such as assertiveness, self-confidence, self-image and phobias, as well as health issues like weight loss, substance abuse and pain relief etc.
Please contact me for more information about conditions that can benefit from Ericksonian Indirect Hypnosis. You may also want to do some research on the Internet, using some of the keywords mentioned above.
